Merck seeks a Technical Architect to lead technology strategy and design scalable, cloud-native solutions across the External and Scientific Engagement product line. The role drives enterprise architecture governance, bridges business and technology teams, and modernizes platforms supporting drug development and medical affairs.

Responsibilities

• Define and develop technology strategy and roadmap across the product line
• Conduct technology assessments, identify capability gaps, and drive adoption of modern practices
• Establish architecture governance standards and collaborate with enterprise IT teams
• Review requirements and architectures to ensure appropriate technology selection
• Mentor technical teams and facilitate communication among business and technology leaders

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
• 10+ years software engineering experience with 5+ years as Technical or Solution Architect
• Expertise designing scalable, distributed, cloud-native architectures
• Hands-on experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP platforms
• Strong knowledge of APIs, event-driven architectures, and integration patterns
• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases, data pipelines, and CI/CD practices
• Proven ability to create architecture patterns, standards, and mentor technical teams
