Thermo Fisher Scientific seeks a Staff Engineer for Data to design and maintain the data foundation for scanning electron microscope automation software. This senior role involves building scalable data pipelines, enabling AI-ready systems, and supporting semiconductor industry applications through on-premise Linux infrastructure.
Responsibilities
Build and maintain pipelines to ingest, persist, cleanse and validate process and telemetry data
Design a well-governed data platform with uniform access, quality controls, and observability
Prepare data infrastructure to support AI and agentic systems with clean interfaces
Enable data-driven decision-making for high-tech semiconductor manufacturing equipment development
Work on-premise on Linux while designing for hosting-agnostic portability
Requirements
University degree in computer science, software engineering, or related field
At least three years of professional data engineering experience
Strong fundamentals in data modeling, quality, orchestration, and lineage
Proficiency with Linux, shell scripting, SQL, and Python
Professional working proficiency in English
Collaborative mindset with open communication and shared responsibility
Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or Apache Spark preferred
